Kubo Shunman was a painter, print artist, author, and kyôka poet. He was a pupil of Katori Nahiko, and later of Kitao Shigemasa. From the mid-1780s into the 90s Shunman produced relaxed and elegant colour prints and paintings after the Kiyonaga manner. After the 1790s he stopped designing single-sheet prints, and specialized entirely in surimono and paintings.
