False door from the tomb of Sentites, Saqqara, Skendörr från Sentites grav i Saqqara

Sentites was a woman who lived during the 6th Dynasty. Here she is sitting in front of an offering table with offering bread and the leg of an ox. She smells a lotus flower, which symbolises pleasure and life.
Above her head is a list of tomb offerings: a thousand loaves of bread, a thousand jars of beer, a thousand oxen,
a thousand fowl, a thousand alabaster jars (with contents) and a thousand pieces of fine linen. The hieroglyphic inscription around the central part of the false door forms the so-called offering formula which describes how Sentites will receive offerings conveyed by the god Anubis.

Sentites var en kvinna som levde under 6:e dynastin. Här avbildas hon sittande framför ett offerbord med bröd och frambenet av en oxe. Hon luktar på en lotusblomma, som symboliserar vällust och liv.
Ovanför hennes huvud finns en lista på önskade gravoffer: tusen bröd, tusen ölkrus, tusen oxar, tusen fåglar, tusen alabasterkärl (med innehåll) och tusen stycken fint linne. Hieroglyfinskrifterna runt mittdelen av skendörren återger den så kallade offerformeln, som berättar hur Sentites skall få åtnjuta offer förmedlade via guden Anubis.
