Gurts bidrag i museets publikation Tre världsbilder. Samtida konst från tre kontinenter (2000). Carl Johan Gurt (history of religions, expert on schamanism and the Northwest Coast) has directly, or in this case indirectly, contributed with a number of collections, often with contemporary Native American art, from B.C., Canada. The contemporary art works in this collection contribute to that this museum has a representative "pool" of Native American art from the Northwest Coast; in fact, no other Native American culture area is so well represented at the museum as the Northwest Coast when it comes to contemporary Native American graphic art. Furthermore, the museum has a substantial amount of ethnographical objects from this culture area, see primarily the "Retzius collection" 1904.19. The museum library has substantial amount litterature about contemporary Native American art. In general, according to SB, the museum (as an ethnographical-anthropological museum) ought have more contemporary Native American art from the Americas in its collections since Swedish art museums seem not have the ambition to collect that category of art. (SB, 2010-02-23).
