Cleaning and conservation report. D-nr 16455013, 950108. Condition: surface is dirty with cement-hard deposits from soil. Surface corrosion is hard, dark green. It is chipped off in spots, exposing metallic core. There are tiny spots of active corrosion - bronze disease.Object has more recent file marks; it has been soldered with tin where the "head" joins the needle. Treatment see 178: cleaned mechanically with scalpel, small soft rotating bristle and steel brushes, under magnification. Active corrosion stabilised in 3% benzotriazole solution in ethanol for 48 hours. Rinsed in 95% ethanol, dried. Protective coating of 10% Paraloid B 72 is applied. Pat says this indicates pastiche: two old ones make one new.
