Nere till vänster ser du en broderad blus från Mexiko som kallas huipil. Mellan två broderade tuppar ser vi en tredje fågel ovanför en kaktus.
Motivet har att göra med aztekernas legend om grundandet av deras huvudstad Tenochtitlan.
Enligt en profetia skulle aztekerna bygga sin stad där de såg en örn sittande på en kaktus. Deras vandringar tog dem till en ö där de såg tecknet.
På ön byggde de sin mäktiga stad Tenochtitlan med palats, pyramider och kanaler. Dit kom år 1519 den spanske erövraren Hernan Cortez och mötte den aztekiske härskaren Montezuma.
Efter många dramatiska händelser heter staden idag Mexico City och är huvudstad i Mexiko.

This motive is related to the Aztec legend about how their capital, Tenochtitlan, was founded.
According to a prophecy, the Aztecs were to build their city where they could see an eagle sitting on a cactus. Their journeys took them to an island where that prophetic sign was shown to them.
On that island they built Tenochtitlan, their powerful city with palaces, pyramids and channels. In 1519 the Spanish conqueror Hernan Cortez arrived there, and met the Aztec sovereign, Montezuma.
Today, after many dramatic incidents that city is called Mexico City, the capital of Mexico.
