The collector that in various ways contributed the most to the new museum’s collections was R.G. Gayer-Anderson in Cairo. He was a former British military that had built up a considerable collection of antiquities. Over the course of a few decades he sold or donated parts of his collection to the Egyptian museum in Stockholm. In total, the museum received close to two thousand objects from him. Amongst these were Gayer-Anderson’s favourites, a collection of figured ostraca from Deir el-Medina and the Valley of the Kings.Stäng
