Wooden tool for beating flax. Flax was the main material for producing textiles, mostly for linen clothes and mummy wrappings. Wool was less common and was prohibited for priests as it was considered impure. The now so famous Egyptian cotton started to be produced on a large scale only during the nineteenth century AD.
