The sizing and dyeing machine was manufactured in the Maschinenfabrik Coesfeld (Machine Factory Coesfeld) and presumably dates back to the mid-20th century. Up until the 21st century it was used in a yarn processing company in Wuppertal. Today it is an exhibit of the LWL-Industrial Museum Bocholt Textile Factory and is used for demonstrational purposes. The machine sizes warp yarn by adding starch to it. In addition, one could use dye to color hanks of yarn. The yarn can be set up on both sides of the machine and moved through the fluid according to a predetermined sequence. Then it is lifted out of the fluid and the superfluous starch or dye is expunged by means of a nip-roll wringer. The electric motor and the rotation of the nip roller generate the typical sounds of this machine.
